I can understand how sexual abuse and/or being ignored as a child can create deeply held pain and a dysfunctional life. But during certain times, Evie seemed to have a happy, productive life, even toward the end of her first marriage. There was nothing written about nightmares and continued suffering after marrying a wonderful man until the epilogue. I'm sorry I wasted my time with this book. The author’s purpose to help other victims of abuse is brave and honorable. Her choice not to bring charges against her sexual abuser, or otherwise expose him for what he was is a concern as they usually continue to abuse others. The numerous typos and errors were distracting. Capitalization, punctuation, and calling Jane the mother of Andrew instead of Steve reflected poor editing for a book.
